Axios: Intensive Qatari Mediation to Reach an Agreement Between Washington and Tehran

Washington - Afaq News - Axios reported, citing an American official and regional sources, that Qatari mediators are continuing intensive diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran, in an attempt to reach an agreement that ends the war and restores the negotiation track between the two sides.

According to the sources, the Qatari mediators discussed the original Iranian proposal with both sides before presenting a conciliatory proposal for both parties to review, in an effort to reduce the existing differences between Washington and Tehran.

The report clarified that the Qatari mediators continued over the weekend to convey messages separately between the Iranian and American negotiators, and worked on making amendments to the proposal text.

It is expected, according to Axios, that the Qatari mediators will meet separately with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and American envoy Steve Wietkoff starting Monday, as part of the ongoing indirect efforts.
