- Ukrainian authorities accused SpaceX of restricting certain high-speed services in Ukraine on Tuesday night, disrupting military operations and logistics. Sergei Beskrestnov, advisor to the Ukrainian president, said that the Ukrainian authorities have observed restrictions on the operation of the "Starlink" service - which is used to provide communication via satellite with military specifications - when the speed exceeds 100 miles per hour.
“Our defense forces did not receive any warning about this restriction, which led to the disruption of a number of missions,” the Ukrainian president’s advisor confirmed in a post on social media. “It is clear that this action cannot be a coincidence, but rather is related to the current political situation.”
A Ukrainian military source - with direct knowledge of the daily operations affected by the "Starlink" service - told the Ukrainian News Network that "the complications are great." The military source said: “We are investigating the communication problems in detail.
The areas that will be affected are the front line and the occupied territories,” he said, adding: “We have been preparing for this matter.” A source in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense told Ukrainian News Network: “We are currently investigating the cause,” adding that the Ukrainian authorities are also still verifying speed data related to the unrest.
The source added: “This situation greatly complicates logistical operations, unmanned systems, troop operations, medium-range strikes, and others.” Ofoq News contacted SpaceX to obtain a comment.
Ofek News also reached out to the White House, the Pentagon, and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense for comment.
