“Brothers in good times and bad.” An Emirati official warns against attempts to sow discord between the Saudis and the Emiratis.

Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Authority in the Emirates, affirmed his country’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, in the wake of the attacks launched by the Yemeni Houthi group on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, saying that the victims of the attack are “all of our families, and their affliction is our affliction.” Al Hamed, in a blog post published on his account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter, stressed his refusal to exploit the incident to stir up disputes between the Saudis and the Emiratis, warning that attempts to sow discord between the two countries “only serve the Houthis.”

The Emirati official said: “There is no gloating over death. The victims of Riyadh Airport are all our families, and their affliction is our affliction.”

Whoever exploits this sadness to sow discord between the Saudis and the Emiratis only serves the Houthis.” Al Hamid called on users of social media platforms to stay away from what he described as “tamari” in discussions, and urged them to improve their morals, stressing the depth of relations between the Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

He added: "What brings the UAE and Saudi Arabia together is deeper than a tendentious campaign. The Emirati official's statements come amid the repercussions of the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and at a time when calls are mounting for solidarity with Saudi Arabia and a refusal to exploit the incident to inflame differences between the two countries."

The Houthis in Yemen intensified their attacks on airports and civilian sites in Saudi Arabia, as part of confrontations with Yemeni government forces supported by the Kingdom. At least 12 people were killed and hundreds injured on Saturday when the Houthis targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, at a time when the Iranian-backed group escalated its campaign against the kingdom.

The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority announced, on Sunday, that the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resulted in the killing of 4 Saudi citizens, two residents from Bangladesh, and one resident from each of the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan, adding that 309 people were injured.
