Salfit - Afaq News - A group of settlers attacked olive pickers today in the northeastern area of Marda village, north of Salfit, and assaulted them physically. They also attacked several citizens' homes and vehicles in the area, while Israeli occupation forces intervened, resulting in several residents suffering from tear gas inhalation.
The head of the Marda village council, Sadiq Al-Khafsh, reported that a group of settlers attacked farmers while they were picking olives in their lands. They also attacked several homes of citizens in the northeastern area of the village, indicating that the settlers stole agricultural equipment and olives, assaulted several citizens, and smashed the windows of some of their vehicles.
He added that occupation soldiers arrived at the scene and fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at the citizens and around their homes, which led to several residents suffering from suffocation, who were treated on-site.
Al-Khafsh explained that the occupation forces stormed several citizens' homes in the village, rummaged through their contents, and vandalized furniture and belongings inside one of the houses, assaulting its owners. They also detained several young men before releasing them, while arresting three others.
He confirmed that the occupation forces are still storming the village and spreading in several areas, amidst a state of tension and alertness among the residents, in light of the ongoing assaults on farmers during the olive picking season.
