The Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces, Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi, announced the continued deployment of more than 50 combat and support units on the country's borders, stressing their readiness to confront threats and revealing measures to deal with the possibility of hostile forces entering Iranian territory.
In an interview with Fars Agency, which was republished by Iranian media on Saturday, Jahanshahi explained that the deployment began with the outbreak of the last war, and that the units are still in their positions. The deployment included mobile brigades, rapid intervention forces, armored and mechanized units, in addition to artillery, engineering, missiles and drones.
The deployment sites extended from the northwest of the country to its west and southwest, and from the east to the southeast and the coast of Makran, according to the Iranian commander.
He said that the transport of individuals, ammunition and equipment was carried out using heavy vehicles, and that the movements were carried out at night under the threat of enemy aircraft and drones, considering that this deployment contributed to deterring any attempt to enter the border.
Jahanshahi confirmed that the army conducted reconnaissance operations across the country to identify locations that might be used to land enemy aircraft or enter forces, including abandoned airports, and made arrangements to allocate units to confront them.
He added that the deployed forces continue their missions despite difficulties that include temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius, high humidity and a lack of some capabilities, stressing their readiness to carry out operations.
As part of the preparations, the Commander of the Ground Forces said that the army reviewed its operational plans, modified its combat structure and organization, and worked to provide units with accurate and intelligent weapons capable of operating within interconnected networks, while developing personnel training.
He also pointed out the establishment of trenches, tunnels, firing positions, and defensive fortifications inside the camps, with the aim of reducing human losses and limiting the exposure of equipment to targeting.
Jahanshahi said that during the war, the ground forces carried out offensive operations with missiles, and launched thousands of “Arch” drones towards American bases in the region and Israel, according to his account.
He added that the production of equipment continued during the war and is still ongoing, considering that the capabilities and readiness of his units have become higher than they were before the fighting.
He acknowledged that a number of camps were attacked and large areas of their buildings were destroyed, but he said that the distribution of forces and fortifications contributed to reducing losses, without providing a specific toll for the victims.
