The Portuguese Football Federation announced, on Saturday, the temporary suspension of Cristiano Ronaldo, after he left the first team camp during the last international break. The Portuguese Football Federation explained that it had referred the case to its disciplinary investigation committee, with the results remaining confidential until the end of the process, according to the TNT SPORTS network.

The Portuguese Federation said that disciplinary procedures were opened on October 9 to investigate the incidents that were reported on the 7th of the same month, the date of Ronaldo’s departure from the camp, indicating that the file had been given urgent status. The 41-year-old player had said that the reason for his withdrawal from the camp was due to a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus, considering that the latter had “broken the promises” agreed upon by both parties.

Cristiano Ronaldo apologized to the Portuguese people after the incident, stressing that he accepted any punishment that would be issued against him. Ronaldo is considered the player who played the most international matches, with 234 times, during which he scored 146 goals.
