Meeting of the Higher Committee for the Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Conference at the "American University"

Ramallah - Afaq News - The Higher Committee for the Third International Conference on Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence held a meeting at the campus of the Arab American University in Ramallah to follow up on the preparations for the conference organized by the National Center for Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence titled "From Vision to Implementation: Enhancing the Adoption of Artificial Intelligence in Education in Palestine," under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the State of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, on the 14th and 15th of October.

The meeting was chaired by the head of the Higher Committee for the conference, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the State of Palestine and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab American University, His Excellency Dr. Majdi Khalidi. The committee includes: Minister of Education and Higher Education, Professor Amjad Barham, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Abdul Razak Al-Natsha, Minister of Labor, Dr. Inas Dhadha, Minister of Social Development and Relief, Dr. Samah Hamad, Dr. Maysoun Ibrahim, head of the Information and Technology Sciences Syndicate and member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab American University, Dr. Tarek Amteera, General Director of the Cooperation Foundation, Dr. Rifat Sabah, General Director of the Teacher Creativity Center Association, Professor Walid Dabb, academic advisor to the Board of Directors of the Arab American University, Mr. Said Zidan, digital transformation expert and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Bank, Dr. Baraa Asfour, President of the Arab American University, Professor Ali Zidan Abu Zahri, advisor to the President of the University, Dr. Islam Amro, Vice President of the University for Finance and Business Development, and Dr. Mona Dmeidi, Vice President of the University for Artificial Intelligence.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed the objectives of the conference and its importance in light of the rapid transformations witnessed in the education sector with the expansion of the use of artificial intelligence technologies, as well as the expected outcomes and recommendations that will emerge from its activities, in addition to the nature of the national and international partnerships participating in it and their role in enriching the discussion and benefiting from global experiences and practices to serve the needs of the Palestinian education sector.

The committee also reviewed the conference program and the arrangements related to its convening, which includes panel discussions and technical and practical workshops, with the participation of experts, specialists, and representatives from national and international institutions in the fields of education, technology, and artificial intelligence.

The committee emphasized the importance of the conference as a platform for dialogue that brings together policymakers, educational institutions, experts, researchers, the technology sector, and international partners, contributing to the formulation of practical directions for adopting artificial intelligence in education and benefiting from its capabilities in a responsible and effective manner that considers national needs and priorities.

The conference focuses on several issues that have become a priority for the future of education, including the governance of artificial intelligence and responsible use, the development of teaching, learning, and assessment, building digital capacities and skills, enhancing the readiness of educational institutions, data governance, and technological infrastructure, in addition to research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The outcomes of the conference are expected to contribute to identifying priorities and practical steps that support the development of artificial intelligence use in Palestinian education, by enhancing institutional readiness and infrastructure, developing skills, curricula, and teaching and assessment methods, supporting research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, enhancing data governance, and expanding national and international partnerships in this field.

This year's conference is strategically sponsored by Jawwal and Bank of Palestine, while the Arab Islamic Bank participates as a platinum sponsor, and Cairo Amman Bank as a gold sponsor, with both PalPay and BCI as silver sponsors, as part of supporting private and public sector institutions for digital transformation and innovation and enhancing the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the education sector.
