The Ministry of Culture will launch the "Ruba'toon" exhibition next Wednesday, which will be held at the Al-Fana Center until November 7. It offers a sensory artistic experience that explores the intersection between music and visual art, reflecting on how sound transforms into visual works.
The "Ruba'toon" exhibition is an artistic project created by artist Naseer Shamma. His experience involves using wood shavings and remnants resulting from the manufacture of the oud in sculptural works that shift the material from its traditional function to visual compositions that evoke sound, maqam, and rhythm. The name of the exhibition comes from the term "quarter tone," as it is one of the elements of Arabic music.
The exhibition is accompanied by a diverse cultural and artistic program, including discussion sessions with artists and researchers that address the relationship between sound, place, memory, and identity, along with an interactive experience that enriches the visitor's journey and expands the dimensions of the artistic experience of the exhibition.
The exhibition welcomes visitors from 10 AM to 10 PM every day of the week, while it opens its doors on Friday from 5 PM to 10 PM. Entry is available to the general public through prior registration via the "WeBook" platform, according to the site's capacity.
The organization of the "Ruba Tunis" exhibition comes as part of the Ministry of Culture's efforts to achieve the objectives of the national cultural strategy, under the umbrella of Saudi Vision 2030, by providing innovative cultural experiences for the public and creating creative platforms where the arts can meet, allowing for an effective cultural dialogue between the artist and the community.
