Islamic Jihad: An electoral alliance including Hamas and Dahlan to participate in the Palestinian elections

Gaza - Afaq News - The Deputy Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Muhammad Hindi, announced that the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements have agreed to form an electoral alliance with former Fatah leader Muhammad Dahlan, in an unprecedented step as the Palestinian legislative elections scheduled for November 28 approach, according to the Associated Press.

Hindi stated that the alliance will support a unified national list that could include independent figures, instead of participating in the elections with separate factional lists, noting that Islamic Jihad will not directly propose candidates under its name, but will support the list that is agreed upon.

The announcement comes after a series of meetings and communications that took place in Cairo over the past weeks, involving Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the reformist current in Fatah led by Muhammad Dahlan, along with other Palestinian figures and forces, to discuss the formation of a broad national list to participate in the legislative council elections.
