Gaza - Ofoq News - The Deputy Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement said that the meetings of the Palestinian factions in Cairo led to an agreement to postpone the Palestinian elections, indicating that the official announcement of the postponement will be issued during the coming period.
He explained that the Fatah movement delegation will return to Ramallah to follow up on what was agreed upon during the Cairo meetings, pointing out that a new date for the elections will be set by consensus between the various Palestinian forces and factions.
He added that the factions participating in the Cairo meetings agreed to continue the Palestinian national dialogue, and to complete the discussion on the files and issues that were discussed during the meetings.
According to the Deputy Secretary-General of Islamic Jihad, the next stage will witness a follow-up to the understandings reached in Cairo, in preparation for announcing the steps related to the elections and their new date.
