Iranian Revolutionary Guard: The Strait of Hormuz is closed and has become a place for hunting American submarines

- Iranian Revolutionary Guard spokesman Hossein Mohseni said on Monday that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, adding that it is also a place for "hunting American submarines." He continued in statements reported by the official Iranian news agency (IRNA), "The second prey has also been caught, this time the Mk 18 Mod 2 Kingfish submarine; it is an advanced autonomous submarine equipped with a precise navigation system, worth millions of dollars.",

He added: "It's not just about hunting; these are technological and informational spoils." Iran had previously announced the seizure of an unmanned American submarine at the beginning of last month.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that one of its unmanned submarines experienced a technical malfunction during a survey mission, downplaying the military significance of the incident and noting that it is an older model and does not carry highly sensitive equipment or radars. Iran renewed its threats on Sunday to ships that take routes other than the one designated for crossing the Strait of Hormuz, warning of the possibility of human casualties among their crews and imposing restrictions on their future passage through the strait.

Iran's threat came after U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he rejected the latest proposal made by Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as unacceptable. The so-called "Persian Gulf Navigation Management Authority" stated in a statement that "reports have reached it indicating that some charterers are forcing ships to sail through unapproved routes," according to what was reported by the semi-official Iranian news agency "Tasnim."
