The Iraqi government denied on Wednesday the presence of Houthi group headquarters on Iraqi territory.
Haider Al-Aboudi, the official spokesman for the Iraqi government, told the Iraqi News Agency: “There are no headquarters indicating this matter inside Iraq,” adding that “the issue does not require any government direction or decision regarding a matter that does not exist in the first place.”
He stated that "some insist on adhering to narratives circulated on social media," considering that "the presence of armed groups from other countries inside Iraq is inconsistent with constitutional principles."
He stressed that "Iraq will not be a launching pad for attacks on neighboring countries, and will not embrace any armed group participating in a specific conflict."
In another context, Al-Aboudi indicated that there is "high coordination with Turkey to resolve the issue of the Kurdistan Workers' Party and remove its members from Iraq, in addition to the existence of coordination with Iran through a higher committee to resolve the issue of the presence of Iranian Kurdish militants inside Iraqi territory, specifically in the Kurdistan region."
He stressed that "all these government indicators and directions confirm that armed elements belonging to other countries will not be allowed to exist inside Iraqi territory," stressing that "Iraq will not allow neighboring countries to be threatened from its territory."
