In an exclusive interview, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath on Friday that Iran’s decision to launch strikes against the Gulf states is based on wrong and desperate calculations.
In statements that addressed Gulf security, relations with Iran, and coordination between the Gulf states, the ministry said that Iran's "miscalculations" stand behind its targeting of the Gulf states. It also stressed that the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia cannot be justified.
She added that any agreement with Iran must address the concerns of all parties, stressing the region's need for a new security system.
As for the American base in Doha, the Qatari Foreign Ministry clarified that it was not used to strike Iran, stressing at the same time that Gulf coordination continues daily and at various levels.
