Bethlehem - Ofoq News - The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine condemned the Israeli occupation, with its army and settlers, continuing its brutal war on the occupied Palestinian West Bank and its conquest as the Knesset elections approach, using Palestinian blood as a card in the ballot boxes. This war is on our farmers, villages and towns, especially in the olive harvest season.
The repeated attack and aggression by settlers on the village of Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah, occurred yesterday, Friday, and 34 villages and towns were subjected to assault and intimidation by the occupation forces and settler gangs, affecting farmers while they were harvesting olives in six governorates in the West Bank, resulting in the injury of at least 19 people.
The Front continued in its statement: The settlers’ attack on the village of Abu Falah also affected the local and international press, and the American Washington Post correspondent, Heidi Levin, was injured as a result of the settlers’ assault on her while she was covering the olive harvest, and the occupation forces fired live bullets and poison gas bombs towards citizens and volunteers as they confronted the settlers and prevented them from continuing the attack on farmers and agricultural lands.
The repeated attacks by settlers, with the protection and participation of the occupation army, on the village of Abu Falah, which turned the lives of the residents into a state of constant alertness and alert, prompted them to organize popular efforts to protect their lands and homes and confront the attacks, relying on the formation of popular guard committees that take turns monitoring the settlers’ movements, especially during the night hours, and alerting the residents when they detect suspicious movements or groups approaching the outskirts of the village, allowing the people to gather and confront the attacks. The vigilance of these committees contributed to thwarting many settler attacks.
The Democratic Front concluded its statement by emphasizing that all these crimes will not discourage our people from steadfastness and adhering to their land and roots that go deep in history, and that the experience of Abu Falah, and before that, the village of Tal and others, confirms the high readiness of our people to confront in their popular resistance, in defense of their existence in the face of the occupation’s attempts to uproot them from their land, which requires framing their resistance within a nationally agreed-upon plan.
