The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied the report that spoke of “demands” presented by the Houthi group, supported by Iran in Yemen, to the Kingdom in exchange for stopping combat operations, describing the information contained therein as “a figment of the imagination of the authors of the article or their sources.” The Undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Public Diplomacy, Ambassador Dr.
Raed Qarmli, on his page on the “X” platform, previously tweeted: “I categorically deny the allegations published by the Wall Street Journal regarding the demands made by this militia, and all of this is baseless and is a figment of the imagination of the authors of the article or their alleged sources.” Qarmali continued: “These militias turned against the Yemeni government, caused starvation for the Yemeni people, and plunged Yemen into conflicts and agendas that do not serve Yemen and its people. They attacked commercial ships in the waterways in the Red Sea, and civilian and economic objects, and rejected all peace efforts. We also remind the book that Yemen has a recognized government.”
The Houthis have been continuously targeting various areas in the Kingdom for weeks, most notably civilian airports, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, as part of the escalation taking place in Yemen.
