Hebron - Afaq News - Lawyer Dr. Bassam Al-Qawasmi, a law professor at Hebron University and founder of the Palestinian All Gathering, called on the Palestinian government to immediately reduce the prices of diesel and gas in line with the purchasing power of citizens and the difficult economic conditions the country is experiencing.
Al-Qawasmi stated that the government has partially responded to the gathering's demands regarding price reductions by lowering the price of gasoline, considering that the current required step is to reduce the price of diesel, due to its direct connection to various economic sectors.
He explained that diesel consumption exceeds gasoline consumption by about three times, and it is a fundamental component in the operation of factories and the Palestinian industry, in addition to the transportation sector, which includes taxis, trucks, and buses.
Al-Qawasmi added that the continued rise in diesel prices directly affects production and transportation costs, and consequently the lives of citizens, including students, teachers, employees, and workers, extending to manufacturers, drivers, and owners of economic establishments.
He emphasized that reducing diesel prices would contribute to supporting the Palestinian industry and maintaining the continued operation of factories, companies, and the transportation sector, stressing that the current price of diesel does not correspond, in his estimation, to the income of the Palestinian citizen and their purchasing power.
Al-Qawasmi called on the government to make a swift decision to reduce diesel and gas prices, stating: "The current economic conditions necessitate immediate measures that take into account the situations of citizens, factories, and means of transport."
He added: "The Palestinian national gathering hopes for the government's response to the demand for price reductions as soon as possible." Warning that the continued rise in energy costs could exacerbate the difficulties faced by factories and the transport sector, at a time when families and economic sectors are suffering from increasing living and economic pressures.
