The scammer looks for the less patient

Listen to the article. The audio text is automated, generated by an automated system

It is commonly said that financial fraud is often committed by those with little experience or awareness, but this idea is inaccurate. An educated person, an expert, or even someone who knows a lot about fraudulent methods and warns others about them may fall into it. The problem is not always a lack of knowledge, sometimes it is during the moment when a person is exposed to pressure, fear, or urgency, and he makes a decision before giving himself enough time to think calmly.

The scammer relies on pushing the victim to act immediately. He may send a message claiming that the account is threatened with suspension, or make a call talking about urgent action, or offer a limited-time investment opportunity, or a tempting offer for a commodity within a very short time. In all of these cases, the goal is not merely to convince the victim of the veracity of the story, but rather to prevent him from stopping, asking, and verifying.

It becomes even more convincing when the scammer takes advantage of the information we search, browse, and leave behind about our interests and needs. He may reach someone looking for a loan, car, or investment opportunity with an offer that seems like a perfect fit for their need!

When the offer comes at a time when a person feels he needs a quick solution, he may see it as a real opportunity rather than a fraudulent attempt.

Here the fraudster does not just make a tempting offer, but rather creates a situation that makes the decision faster than thinking, taking advantage of fear, greed, or confusion. The smaller the space available for review and questioning, the greater the chances of success. Therefore, he may not need to use a complex story or a sophisticated technical method that is sometimes enough to convince the victim that he needs to act now.

This is why advice on not sharing (password, verification code, or clicking on suspicious links) is not enough, despite its importance. The most important rule is never to make a financial decision while under pressure. Anyone who requests urgent money, information, or approval can wait a few minutes until it is fulfilled, communicate with the relevant authority through its official channels, and ask someone you trust.

These minutes may seem few, but they may be all the difference. The scammer does not steal your money first, but rather steals from you the time you need to think.
