"Unit 910"... revealing a secret Hezbollah network to recruit foreign students in Iran

Washington - Ofoq News - International intelligence information obtained by the “Iran International” website revealed the details of a secret recruitment network run by the Foreign Operations Service of the Lebanese Hezbollah within Iranian territory, which aims, according to the information, to attract foreign students and train them in acts of sabotage, cyber attacks, and espionage, under the cover of official educational and religious institutions.

It was reported that the network is linked to “Unit 910”, the unit concerned with Hezbollah’s foreign operations, which about 5 years ago began communicating with foreign students at Al-Mustafa International University, in direct coordination and cooperation with the “Quds Force” of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

According to the sources, the network relies on secret apartments and headquarters used for training and shelter, and is spread in the cities of Qom and Tehran, where, according to information, elements are being prepared within a network that operates secretly under the umbrella of educational and religious institutions.

Talal Hamiyah Operations Command

According to the same sources, the network is managed in the field by an Indonesian named Muhammad Hassan, who is a graduate of Al-Mustafa University. According to information, Hassan works under the supervision of leaders in the Quds Force, and for Talal Hamiyah, the commander of Unit 910, which is responsible for Hezbollah’s external operations.

Himiyah is on US sanctions lists, and Washington has offered a reward of up to $7 million for information that could help determine his location or reach him.

Data indicate that “Unit 910” was founded by Imad Mughniyeh, who was killed in 2008, before it underwent changes in its leadership that included Mustafa Badr al-Din and Ahmed Wahidi, leading to its current structure, which, according to sources, manages a number of secure headquarters inside Iran.

Secret headquarters in Qom and Tehran

The sources identified four headquarters that they said were being used as “operations houses” for recruitment, training, and concealment.

One of these headquarters is located in an apartment inside the “Kashana 2” tower in the Vilayet area, near “Hakim” and “Bayamber Azam” Streets in the city of Qom.

As for the other three sites, they are located in the capital, Tehran. One of them is on “Kish Seventh Street” in the “Naft” neighborhood, the second is on “Sarostan West Third Street” in the “Ra Ahan” area, while the third site is located in the “Saro” alleys near Alborz Street in the “Bonk” area.

According to the information provided in the report, these sites are used for recruitment, training, and concealment of members, within a network that operates far from the official institutions to which the students’ affiliation appears in its declared form.

A cleric participates in recruitment

Information also revealed the involvement of cleric Habib Mustafa Zuaiter in recruitment operations, according to the report.

Zaiter, who was born in Jabal Amel in Lebanon and resides in the city of Qom, holds American citizenship and travels to the United States several times a year.

According to the sources, Zuaiter benefited from his proficiency in the English language and his work in religious and academic institutions in the city of Qom, including the “Al-Noor Islamic Center” and the “Hikma International Academy,” to reach foreign students, communicate with them, and recruit them for the network.

Sleeper cells and Indonesian elements

The report monitored four people who it said were recruited and trained within sleeper cells affiliated with the network in Iran.

The list includes, according to information, Muhammad Zaki Fatuni, Chairman of the Leadership Council of the Followers of Ahl al-Bayt in Indonesia, and Ahmad Zalal Mukhles, a member of the Al-Mustafa University Alumni Association.

It also includes Sayed Muhammad Mahdi Ali Al-Attas, President of the Indonesian Students Union in Iran, in addition to Muhammad Saleh, a student at Al-Mustafa University and an activist in circles loyal to the Iranian administration.

According to the report, they represent part of a broader network that benefits from the presence of large numbers of foreign students in Iran, especially in educational and religious institutions associated with Al-Mustafa International University.

Al-Mustafa University under the microscope

These activities, according to the information contained in the report, are carried out under the umbrella of Al-Mustafa International University, which was founded by former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and which has branches in more than 60 countries.

The university received government funding amounting to 1.8 trillion Iranian tomans for the fiscal year 2026, according to the data received.

The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the university, saying it had links to military and intelligence activities for the Quds Force.

According to information published by “Iran International,” this network combines declared educational and religious activity with secret operations aimed, according to the allegations contained in the report, to recruit foreign students and prepare them for roles related to sabotage, espionage, and cyber attacks, within the framework of cooperation between “Unit 910” and the “Quds Force.”
