A loud explosion was heard in the city of Zahedan in southeastern Iran on Wednesday, with no immediate clarity on its source or cause, while local authorities have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
Additionally, Iranian citizens reported hearing an explosion in the vicinity of Republic Street in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan province, according to the Fars news agency, which noted that the source of the sound has not yet been identified.
Furthermore, the governor of Zahedan, Jamshid Rakhshaninsep, confirmed that a report was received regarding the sound of an explosion caused by a "sonic object" in an area surrounding a police station in Zahedan, explaining that the investigation into the incident began immediately after the report was received, and that verification operations to determine the source and cause of the sound are still ongoing.
He also indicated that no precise details regarding the cause of the explosion have been announced yet, as stated in remarks to the Tasnim news agency.
In conjunction with this, the General Administration of Security in Fars Province announced that blasting operations will be conducted within a mine in Shiraz on Thursday, emphasizing that there is no cause for concern among citizens when hearing the sounds tomorrow.
This comes as Iran has raised its readiness level in dozens of vital entities and facilities, in anticipation of the possibility of attacks on infrastructure, amid ongoing tensions and previous American threats to target facilities within the country.
The head of the Iranian Civil Defense Organization, Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, stated that about 46 executive and operational entities, which are supposed to have plans for wartime response, are now prepared to deal with wartime conditions.
It is noteworthy that since the outbreak of the war on Iran, the sounds of explosions have been repeated in several Iranian cities, especially around Qeshm Island, amid varying reports regarding their sources and causes. In some cases, local authorities announced that the sounds were due to specific operations or incidents, while the circumstances of other incidents remained under investigation, without immediate official announcements regarding their causes.
