- US President Donald Trump said on Friday that there was “no chance” that he would consider replacing White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, following reports indicating the possibility of this happening. It's a "fake story," Trump told Kristen Holmes of Ufoq News Network, referring to a report published by Politico earlier this week - which claimed that Trump polled his allies' opinions about Wiles and discussed potential replacements for her.
Trump added, describing Wiles: "She was amazing; she is smart and strong. She had a very difficult experience with cancer surgery," referring to her diagnosis of breast cancer.
Wiles recently announced that she has completely recovered from cancer. Trump continued: “Susie is here, and she will be here for a long time.”
He stated that the White House informed Politico that what was stated in their report on Wiles was incorrect, before the report was published. In a statement to the site, Trump said: “Susie Wiles is my most loyal and longest-serving chief of staff in this position, and there is a reason for that,” stressing that she has “my complete confidence.”
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said: “The only person that matters is me, because I make the decision.” Wiles informed Trump in March that she had early-stage breast cancer, and he urged her to begin treatment immediately and take all the time she needed away from the White House.
But Wiles confirmed that she would not leave her position, and insisted on continuing to work as Trump's senior aide while she received treatment. In her announcement last month of her recovery from cancer, Wiles thanked Trump and confirmed that she would continue to perform her duties. She wrote on the “X” platform: “Special thanks to President Trump for his unwavering support.
“I am deeply grateful, and I will continue to work to advance his America First agenda.” Wiles has been a fixture in Trump's circle for several years, having helped run his successful 2024 campaign, before joining the White House as chief of staff, an appointment that makes her the first woman to hold that position.
