After Netanyahu's Warnings of an Attack Before the Elections.. An Upcoming Security Meeting with Lapid Tonight

Tel Aviv - Ofok News - The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that Netanyahu will meet with opposition leader Yair Lapid tonight for a security briefing, just hours after Netanyahu's office rejected a request from Lapid for an urgent security meeting.

According to Israeli media reports, the meeting is scheduled to take place at 23:30, following a security meeting held by Netanyahu to assess the situation.

Earlier, Lapid had requested an urgent security briefing in light of statements made by Netanyahu during a visit to the Tel Nof Air Force Base, where he spoke about indications that hostile entities to Israel may attempt to carry out an attack ahead of the elections.

Lapid stated that any official talk about a threat that could affect the elections necessitates informing the opposition leader and relevant parties about the nature of the threat and the measures taken to ensure that the elections proceed without disruptions.

Later, Lapid called for a meeting that includes Netanyahu, the head of the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) David Zini, and the head of the Central Elections Committee Noam Solberg, to discuss security threats and their potential implications for the electoral process.

Netanyahu's office initially refused to hold a direct meeting with Lapid, stating that the Prime Minister regularly holds security briefing meetings with the opposition leader, and that the last meeting between them took place on September 14 of this year.

Netanyahu's office added at the time that Netanyahu instructed his military secretary to inform Lapid of the latest security developments.

While speaking at Tel Nof base, Netanyahu said there are indications that "Israel's enemies will attempt to attack it" ahead of the elections, affirming that the Israeli army is prepared to face any threat.

Netanyahu's statements sparked political reactions in Israel, as the head of the "Yesh Atid!" party, Gadi Eisenkot, called for an immediate briefing for Lapid, questioning whether the threats mentioned by Netanyahu are real security concerns or if they might be used politically during the election period.
