The crisis between America and Iran continues, without any sign of an imminent breakthrough, amid reports of the possibility of using America's most powerful non-nuclear weapon to strike Iran if fighting resumes.

In the latest developments, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stressed on Friday that his country must remain prepared for war, while continuing to negotiate at the same time, accusing the American president of breaking his promises and retracting them.

Before that, US President Donald Trump said that he would not use nuclear weapons against Iran, stressing in an interview with the American Newsmax network that the nuclear option was not on the table. Trump added that he ruled out deploying ground forces inside Iran, in the context of dealing with the existing tension, revealing that Iran had requested a halt to the US attacks and negotiations with it were still continuing.

When asked about reports that he was considering using the “mother of all bombs,” perhaps after the midterm elections, Trump responded by saying: “The mother of all bombs” is not a nuclear weapon.

He added: "It is a very huge bomb, similar to a small nuclear bomb, but the 'mother of all bombs' is one big bomb, not a nuclear one. We will not use nuclear weapons, there is no need for that."

CNN revealed, citing informed sources, that the US military has drawn up new plans to launch strikes against Iran, including the possibility of using the bomb known as the “Mother of All Bombs,” which is the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal, to target Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites, if President Trump issues orders to resume combat operations.

The bomb known as the “Mother of All Bombs” (MOAB) weighs 10 tons and has a great destructive capacity. It is the largest non-nuclear weapon in the American arsenal.

The Pentagon is studying the possibility of using them as part of new attack plans against Iran, which may affect energy infrastructure and sensitive nuclear sites. These are military options being prepared in anticipation of Trump's decision to resume combat operations, whether before or after the midterm elections.
