Russia launched strikes that injured at least 15 people in Kiev, while Ukraine sent hundreds of drones towards the Moscow region overnight, hours after US envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko and local authorities said via the Telegram application that two of those injured in last night's attacks were 15 years old. The attacks also caused damage to the subway infrastructure on the "South Bridge" over the Dnipro River, according to what was reported by Reuters.
Klitschko indicated that six people were injured in a separate missile attack targeting the capital on Wednesday evening. In northeastern Ukraine, the governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Sinigubov, reported via Telegram that a Russian strike had killed a woman and injured four other people, according to Reuters.
As for Russia, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that 630 drones headed towards the Moscow region during the night. “The air defense forces destroyed most of them in remote locations,” Sobyanin said via Telegram, noting that two people were injured.
These strikes come after the end of a meeting that lasted about three hours between US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin had stated that the Kremlin was ready to resume trilateral peace talks (between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine) after mid-November.
