Jerusalem - Afaq News - The American CNN network claimed, citing an Israeli source familiar with the meeting, that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented new Israeli intelligence information to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, indicating that Iran is renewing its nuclear program.
The meeting witnessed an unusual regional presence, as two sources familiar with the details mentioned that a high-ranking Saudi security official also participated in the discussions, although Saudi Arabia quickly denied these reports.
The visit, which took place on Sunday, focused entirely on the Iranian threat, an area in which the two countries have strengthened their security cooperation.
The information provided by Netanyahu centered around details of new construction activities at the underground site on Mount Makoush, located about 225 kilometers south of the Iranian capital, Tehran, which is considered a key hub in Iran's efforts to resume its nuclear program.
Netanyahu's office and the official Emirates News Agency (WAM) confirmed the meeting, in what was described as the first public approval from Abu Dhabi for an Israeli Prime Minister's visit to its territory.
In the wake of reports indicating that the meeting was at a regional level, Jordan also denied the participation of any representative from its side. This casts doubt on the claim that Netanyahu's visit to Abu Dhabi included a broader regional forum beyond the official meeting with the Emirati president.
This comes after a report from CNN today that indicated the discussions covered a wide range of security developments, including the activities of the Houthis in Yemen, freedom of navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait at the entrance to the Red Sea, and the Strait of Hormuz. During the discussions, Netanyahu warned that Israel believes Tehran may launch a regional attack in the coming weeks.
A CNN report indicated that Netanyahu's delegation included several senior officials, including his wife, the head of the National Security Council, the head of the Mossad, the military secretary, and his political advisor. However, the timing of this sensitive visit was not coincidental, as it took place a full month before the elections scheduled for October 27, amidst the political storm that followed reports that bin Zayed himself, along with senior Egyptian officials, issued explicit warnings to Netanyahu just days before the October 7, 2023 attack.
