A sixty-year-old man died alone inside his apartment in Jerusalem, about a week after his death
Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Today, Monday, a 60-year-old man was found dead inside his apartment in the French Hill neighborhood in Jerusalem, about a week after his death, as a result of a foul odor emitting from the apartment that prompted the property owner to call emergency crews.
The newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported that the man was living alone on "Mvo Nahagi HaBridot" Street in Jerusalem, without any family members in Israel.
She added that the owner of the apartment arrived at the building this morning and noticed an unusual odor emanating from the apartment, so he quickly called the emergency crews.
Fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene and stormed the door of the apartment, where they found the man dead inside, while a crew from Magen David Adom declared his death at the scene.
Volunteers from the ZAKA organization also arrived in the Jerusalem area to deal with the site and collect the necessary data.
Team leader in the organization, Shoki Becker, along with volunteers Bensi Lezerovich and Haim Landi, described the scene inside the apartment as difficult and complicated, noting that it was crowded with large amounts of waste and belongings.
They said that they worked in the place for a long time, with the aim of preserving the dignity of the deceased and collecting all the required data.
Frequent incidents of death in isolation
This incident joined a series of similar cases in which people were found dead days after their death, while living alone.
Yesterday, Sunday, a woman, about 70 years old, was found dead inside her home on Ben Gurion Street in the town of Gan Yavneh, several days after her death. One of her relatives arrived home after being unable to contact her for several days, only to discover that she had died.
The incident also reminded of two cases that occurred earlier this year, when two men were found dead inside two hotel rooms in Tel Aviv within two weeks.
In one case, a man aged about 50 was found dead on the floor of his room, after hotel employees entered to clean it and did not receive any response. A few days before that, a man in his forties was found dead inside another hotel in the city.
