The head of the Yemeni Coast Guard Service, Major General Khaled Al-Qamali, confirmed the continued participation of the Coast Guard forces in military and security operations aimed at securing the islands, coastal areas and sea ports, in coordination with the Giants, Homeland Shield and National Resistance forces, and with the support of the leadership of the coalition forces.
Al-Qamali stated in a statement that the forces continue to perform their national and military tasks in light of the exceptional circumstances that the country is going through, in a way that enhances the protection of the Yemeni coasts, islands and territorial waters.
He explained that the role of the Coast Guard is not limited to protecting territorial waters, but rather includes supporting joint military operations, securing maritime areas, and confronting infiltration, smuggling, and illegal supply operations by the Houthi militia, as part of efforts aimed at reducing threats targeting the coasts and sea ports.
Al-Qamali stressed the importance of integrating roles between the Coast Guard and the military formations participating in the operations, stressing that joint coordination represents a necessity to keep pace with field developments, enhance security and stability in coastal areas, and protect international shipping lines in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea.
He stressed that the Coast Guard forces will continue to carry out their tasks with responsibility and readiness alongside the rest of the military formations, noting that protecting national sovereignty and securing the islands, coasts and sea lanes is a shared responsibility that requires continued cooperation and coordination.
