Gulf States Discuss Regional Emergency Plan for Petroleum Products

The oil and gas ministers' representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries discussed the regional emergency plan for petroleum products in the council's countries, the establishment of a committee for planning, coordination, and follow-up, in addition to supporting and participating of member states in upcoming energy conferences, and a number of topics related to cooperation and joint work in the energy sector.

This came during the twentieth preparatory meeting for the thirty-seventh meeting of the Petroleum Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which was held via video conference on Monday, September 28, 2026.

The meeting addressed the follow-up on the implementation of the Supreme Council's decisions regarding the outcomes related to the external storage of oil and gas as part of the proposal to establish strategic storage areas in the Gulf, in addition to the energy strategy project for the GCC countries.

The meeting also reviewed the energy media strategy and its implementation mechanisms, the sixth petroleum media forum "Energy Media Forum", and Kuwait's proposals in the field of energy media, and communication with the Saudi Energy Media Association.

The meeting discussed topics related to the World Trade Organization and trade issues related to energy, the follow-up on the implementation of decisions from the previous meeting, the progress of the Oil and Gas Committee and the Energy Team, in addition to several supporting topics for the joint Gulf cooperation in the oil and energy sector.

The meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State Presidency, Aziz Ahmed Al-Manaei, with the participation of the undersecretaries of the ministries of oil and gas from the member states, and the Assistant Secretary for Economic and Development Affairs at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Khalid Al-Sunaidi.

The meeting concluded with a number of recommendations to be submitted to the thirty-seventh meeting of the Petroleum Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council, scheduled to be held on October 5, 2026, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, to make appropriate decisions regarding them.
