“I will take a new path with Egypt,” he said, citing words spoken by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. The Egyptian president added: “Sincere and generous words expressed by His Excellency Lee Jae-myung, President of the Republic of Korea, which I am very proud of and appreciate with great appreciation.”

Sisi continued: “I say that Egypt, in turn, has found in the friendly Republic of Korea a reliable partner and sincere friend, with a history of mutual respect and constructive cooperation.” The Egyptian President also thanked his South Korean counterpart and the government and people of South Korea for the warm reception and hospitality during his visit to the country.

Al-Sisi said: “I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President Lee Jae-myung, and to the friendly government and people of Korea, for the warm welcome and generous hospitality they extended to me during this visit, which inaugurates an exemplary stage in relations between the two friendly countries.” Egypt and South Korea had agreed to raise bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership, during a state visit conducted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Seoul from October 7 to 9, 2026, at the invitation of his South Korean counterpart Lee Jae-myung.

According to a joint statement, the partnership includes enhancing political, defense and economic cooperation, launching negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, in addition to expanding cooperation in the fields of manufacturing, energy, artificial intelligence and infrastructure, as well as enhancing coordination on regional and international issues of common interest.
