Today, Thursday, the Syrian Postal Corporation sent the first batch of postal parcels to America, the Netherlands, Sweden, Algeria and Qatar, after a break of more than 10 years, as part of its plans to reconnect Syria with various countries of the world.

The head of the Postal Services Department in the Postal Directorate in Damascus, Muhammad Ghayyad, said that the launch of the service reflects confidence in the Syrian Postal Corporation and its ability to provide fast and efficient postal services, which contributes to strengthening communication with various countries of the world, noting that the time for packages to reach their destinations is about 48 hours.

The head of the Damascus International Airport Post Office, Mustafa Ahmed, explained that the parcels, after receiving them from citizens, are subject to the necessary inspection procedures, starting with the inspection through the designated devices, all the way to the full examination by the customs department, to ensure their compliance with the applicable instructions and controls, and then they are delivered to the shipping department of the Syrian Aviation Corporation, in preparation for shipping them to their destinations outside the country, according to the Syrian news agency “SANA.”

On the first of this month, the Director of the Syrian Postal Corporation, Imad al-Din Hamad, announced the resumption of the service of sending postal parcels from Syria to all countries of the world, through the Universal Postal Union (UPU) network.

While the Corporation reactivated the service of receiving international postal parcels as of the first of last July, through the postal exchange office at Damascus International Airport.

Syrian Post also restored the parcel transportation service between governorates, in parallel with expanding its network of offices, developing its financial and digital services, and concluding cooperation agreements with Arab entities and countries, in steps aimed at strengthening its connection with citizens and foreign markets.
