Newspaper: "Despite the recommendation for protection.. the Shabak is not currently securing Eizenkot"

Tel Aviv - Ofaq News - Israeli sources reported that the Israeli Security Agency "Shabak" does not intend at this stage to provide direct security protection for Gadi Eisenkot, the head of the "Yeshar" party and a candidate for the premiership, despite the recommendation from the relevant advisory committee to secure protection for individuals until the elections.

According to what was communicated to the "Yeshar" party today, Shabak informed the party that there is no intention at present to take on direct protection for Eisenkot, despite previous reports discussing the possibility of a decision to provide him with official protection.

These developments come amid discussions within Israeli security agencies regarding the level of protection that should be provided to Eisenkot, in light of reports of threats against him. The head of Shabak, David Zini, had previously decided not to allocate direct security for Eisenkot, considering that determining the level of protection falls within the agency's jurisdiction.

On the other hand, the advisory committee concerned with protecting individuals recommended providing official security for Eisenkot until the elections, which has kept the issue contentious between the recommendation issued by the committee and Shabak's current decision.
