- The former Egyptian Vice President and former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei, warned that any other American military strike against Iran would be “a form of madness” and would only lead to more violence and destruction. ElBaradei said, in a blog post published on his account on the “X” platform, “Any other American strike against Iran will be a path of madness and will only lead to more violence and destruction... and our region in particular will pay a heavy price for it.”
ElBaradei sent an appeal to the parties capable of influencing US President Donald Trump, asking them to do everything in their power to dissuade him from doing so. ElBaradei's blog post comes in light of the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, and warnings of the repercussions of any new military confrontation between the two sides on the security and stability of the region.
On Sunday, Iranian Defense Minister Mehrdad Akhlaqi confirmed that his country is resolutely pursuing the implementation of the strategy of an immediate, effective and proportionate response to any threat, at any point and without geographical restrictions. He added: “Our message is clear to every party that threatens Iran’s security and national interests: any aggression will be met with a proportionate, decisive and effective response.”
The scope, timing, and repercussions of Iran's defensive response will not be determined by the threat makers. “We have the readiness, will, and ability necessary to defend the country’s security and national interests.”
