Tehran Comments on Strikes Against Houthis After Announcement of Death of 4 Iranian Experts in Yemen

- The Iranian Foreign Ministry commented on the military escalation in Yemen and the airstrikes that targeted Houthi positions, following the announcement by the internationally recognized Yemeni government about the killing of 4 Iranian experts who were providing support to the Houthis. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated in a statement that it "strongly condemns the strikes on infrastructure and civilian targets in Yemen, emphasizing that the continued violation of Yemen's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the aggressive operations against the cities and villages of this country, along with the ongoing economic blockade imposed on this country, contradict the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter," according to what was reported by the official Iranian news agency "IRNA."

The Iranian Foreign Ministry added in its statement that it "strongly condemns the airstrikes on the Taiz market on Sunday afternoon, which resulted in the death of more than 50 people and injured dozens, as well as the airstrikes on the cities of Khabb and Al-Sha'af," according to the "IRNA" agency. The ministry clarified that "while recalling the Islamic Republic of Iran's principled position regarding the situation in Yemen, it affirms its readiness for any noble efforts to resolve the issues based on the agreed-upon roadmap."

The official spokesman for the Yemeni government armed forces, Colonel Majid Abdullah Al-Nazili, stated on Sunday that "the armed forces carried out 756 targeted and precise operations against military sites and capabilities belonging to the Houthi militia in the fronts of Kitaf, Al-Buq'a, Al-‘Alab, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, Lahij, and Taiz over the past 72 hours." He added that "various weapons were used, resulting in the death and injury of hundreds of Houthis, and the killing of 4 Iranian experts specialized in operating and launching drones and missiles in Taiz province, confirming once again the continued Iranian support and expertise provided to the terrorist militia," according to the government-recognized "Saba" agency's version.

The official military spokesman for the Houthis, Yahya Saree, announced on Sunday that 26 airstrikes occurred in the past 24 hours, which, according to him, resulted in the death and injury of dozens, including 50 killed in an airstrike on the Taiz market, as reported by the "Saba" agency's version managed by the Houthis.
