Despite the unencouraging signs so far, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed that his country expects a U.S. response today, Tuesday, regarding the proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Araqchi stated in press remarks that Qatari mediators "have proposed ideas, and we have discussed them with them, and they are scheduled to present the issue to the U.S. side again, after which the final U.S. response will be conveyed to us."
The senior Iranian diplomat, who is in New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly, also indicated that "the Qataris hope this will happen by Tuesday," according to the French Press Agency.
This came after Araqchi revealed last night, Monday, that he met and spoke again with the Qatari mediators, reiterating that there are conditions that must be met to open Hormuz.
