- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Monday that Iran has conveyed to the United States, through Qatari intermediaries, a seven-point plan regarding the conditions for opening the Strait of Hormuz, noting that Tehran is awaiting an official American response to the plan, which he said could arrive on Tuesday. The official Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported him saying, in statements to Iranian journalists in New York, that he met again with one of the Qatari intermediaries on Monday and discussed with him ideas related to how to pave the way for implementing the Iranian conditions.

Araqchi said: "Our plan, known as the seven-point plan, was conveyed to the Americans through a Qatari intermediary; and despite what the American president (Donald Trump) said, I confirmed that we are waiting for the official American response through intermediaries." He added: "Today (Monday), we met again with one of the Qatari intermediaries, and we had some discussions.

He talked about ideas and how to pave the way to achieve Iran's conditions and how to realize them." He continued: "They proposed ideas, and we discussed them, and they will present them again to the American side, and then the final American response will be conveyed to us afterward, which I hope will be on Tuesday."

Araqchi stated that he would leave New York within hours heading to Tehran and would not wait in the United States for the American response, according to IRNA. He added: "These communications and exchanged messages between the Qatari and Pakistani intermediaries have always existed, but now, in light of the plan presented by Iran, they have taken a more serious turn."

He continued: "If there is a response, the Qataris will inform us, and a decision will be made in Tehran based on it, but I will leave New York within a few hours." Regarding the rumors about Iran showing flexibility in its nuclear file, Araqchi categorically denied that.

He said: "This is completely untrue, I strongly deny that," according to the IRNA news agency. He explained that the current discussions are focused on the Strait of Hormuz, stating: "Our discussion is clear, and it currently revolves around the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, and the opening of the strait is conditional upon meeting a series of conditions that we have announced to the other parties."
