Operation Farsh al-Hawa: strict military measures, arrests, and house demolition

Hebron - Ofoq News - Today, Friday, the city of Hebron witnessed a series of rapid field developments, which began with a shooting operation at the Farsh al-Hawa checkpoint, west of Hebron, and continued with the imposition of military measures, arrests, and demolition operations.

Process details

The operation took place this morning at the Farsh al-Hawa checkpoint at the western entrance to Hebron, where two young men arrived in a vehicle bearing Israeli registration plates and opened fire at a military checkpoint where reserve forces soldiers were stationed, according to the Israeli army’s account. This led to a clash that lasted for more than 20 minutes.

The operation resulted in the martyrdom of the two perpetrators, who were from the Al-Jaaba family, and the wounding of 6 soldiers. Two officers were later announced dead.

The Israeli army said that an amount of ammunition was found inside the perpetrators' vehicle.

Procedures and arrests

Following the operation, the occupation forces imposed a closure on the entrances to the city of Hebron, including the entrances to Nabi Yunus, Al-Arroub, Beit Ummar, Al-Fahs, Dura - Al-Fawwar, Ras Al-Joura, and Wadi Al-Saman, with forces deployed around the checkpoint.

The occupation forces also raided a number of homes belonging to the Al-Jaba family, and conducted a field investigation. Eyewitnesses and local sources reported that 8 young men from the Al-Jaaba family were arrested.

Demolition in the vicinity of the checkpoint

The Farsh Al-Hawa area, near the site of the operation, witnessed the demolition of facilities, most of which were vehicle repair garages, under the pretext of building without a license in Area C. Among the facilities previously threatened was the three-story house of citizen Riad Marish.

Israeli statements

On the political level, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security assessment session with the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff, and the head of the Shin Bet.

Netanyahu said in a statement that he issued instructions to impose a siege on the city of Hebron and prepare to close the West Bank, adding that the army forces are operating with reinforced forces and carrying out large-scale arrests.

Military measures are still continuing in Hebron Governorate until the evening hours.

In the city of Dura, the occupation forces opened fire on a vehicle, wounding the driver in the chest. His injury was described as serious. He was transferred to Dura Governmental Hospital, where doctors worked to save his life, and he was transferred to Al-Ahli Hospital for further medical care.
