Qalibaf Threatens: If We Are Prevented from Selling Oil, No One Will Be Able to Sell It

- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf confirmed on Tuesday that Iran will respond quickly, deterrently, and painfully to any aggression or what he described as a "venture" against it, reiterating his warning about the consequences of any threat to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The semi-official Iranian news agency "Tasnim" reported Qalibaf as saying, in a speech delivered before the start of the agenda for the public session of the Iranian Shura Council, that attempts by the United States to impose a maritime blockade, close air corridors, and exert "maximum pressure" on Iranian trade arteries "will fail just as the attempts of 1981 failed," if met with appropriate planning, economic management, and military responses.

He emphasized that "the Iranian people, who have this rich history, cannot be intimidated by sanctions or threats," considering that the recent statements by the American president at the United Nations General Assembly, and what he described as an insult to Iran, confirm the continuation of the previous American approach. Qalibaf stated: "Americans must realize that the era of intimidation and threats has ended, and that the Islamic Republic will respond to any aggression or venture with a harsh, painful, precise, and swift response," according to the "Tasnim" agency.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Qalibaf described the American president's statements about navigation in the strait as a repetition of previous positions. He said: "Americans and all other countries must know that as we have said before, in a region where we cannot sell oil, no one will be able to sell oil, and if we do not have security, no infrastructure will be safe."

Qalibaf's statements come at a time when Iran is focusing on the Strait of Hormuz as a key card in facing American pressures, with Iranian officials confirming that the opening of the strait is linked to meeting conditions set by Tehran.
