Egypt.. Interior Ministry Reveals Details of Gunfire with a "Highly Dangerous" Gang

- The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday evening the details of confrontations and gunfire with a criminal gang described as "highly dangerous," stating that its members practiced thuggery and forcibly took control of dozens of acres of agricultural land owned by others in Giza Governorate. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior stated in a post on its official account on the "X" platform, formerly Twitter: "Information and investigations by the Public Security Sector, in coordination with the relevant ministry agencies, confirmed that a criminal hub comprising (10 highly dangerous criminal elements, previously accused and convicted in drug trafficking, armed robbery, attempted murder, firearm possession, permanent disability, and agricultural land destruction) was engaged in acts of thuggery, imposing control, and forcibly taking possession of dozens of acres of agricultural land owned by others, possessing unlicensed firearms, and collecting sums of money from landowners as extortion under threat of weapon."

The ministry clarified that the gang members had taken one of the locations in an agricultural area within the jurisdiction of the Second Sheikh Zayed Police Station in Giza as a base for their criminal activities. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior mentioned that "after legal procedures were taken, the gang members were tracked and targeted, with the participation of the Central Security Sector, and an exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in the death of 5 of its members and the injury of 3, who were transferred to a hospital for necessary treatment, while others were arrested, and 10 automatic rifles, shotguns, and a quantity of ammunition of various calibers were seized, and legal measures were taken, with the Public Prosecution taking over the investigation."

The ministry attached a photo of two of the gang members after their arrest along with several weapons and other seized items.
