Egypt.. Video of Brothers Beating Their Mother and the Ministry of Interior Responds

- The Egyptian Ministry of Interior revealed details of a post supported by a video circulating on social media, which involved two brothers assaulting their mother verbally and physically in the family home in Cairo. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior stated in a post on its official account on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter) on Friday: "In the context of revealing the circumstances of a post supported by a picture and a video circulated on social media, which included a complaint about two brothers assaulting their mother in Cairo."

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior added: "Upon investigation, the woman appearing in the video (a housewife residing in the area of Sayyida Zainab Police Station) was identified, and upon questioning her, she stated that she was harmed by her two sons for assaulting her verbally and physically on the 27th of the current month while they were at home due to her refusal to give them money." The Egyptian Ministry of Interior confirmed that "the perpetrators of the incident, the sons of the mentioned woman, who appeared in the video (a butcher and his brother residing in the area of the police station), were identified and arrested, and upon confronting them, they admitted to committing the incident as mentioned for the same reason, and legal procedures were taken."
