Mass Demonstration in Liverpool Demanding an End to the Genocide in Gaza

Liverpool – Afaq News - The British city of Liverpool witnessed a massive public demonstration coinciding with the convening of the ruling British Labour Party conference, with wide participation from supporters of the Palestinian people, representatives of trade unions, academic circles, and parties advocating for Palestinian rights, foremost among them the Green Party, along with members of parliament and anti-Zionist Jewish organizations.

The demonstration was called by the Campaign for Solidarity with the Palestinian People, in cooperation with supportive entities and forces, as it marched through the streets of downtown Liverpool before concluding in front of the venue of the Labour Party conference, aiming to pressure the British government to take a firmer stance regarding the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and to hold Israel accountable for the violations and crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

These movements come amid rising British public demands to translate declared positions into practical steps that ensure the cessation of the war and the end of the suffering of Palestinian civilians, and to review government policies related to Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement, Palestinian activist Musheer Al-Farra, head of the Campaign for Solidarity with the Palestinian People in Sheffield, confirmed that the participation of thousands of supporters who came from nearby and distant British cities represents evidence of the ongoing popular movement supporting Palestine and its expanding scope, despite what he described as the betrayal of Western and Arab governments to the Palestinian people.

Al-Farra added that the most important message that should reach the Palestinians facing the harshness of life in tents and on the ruins of their homes and destroyed camps due to the Israeli war is not to succumb to despair, emphasizing that millions of people around the world still care about their suffering and continue their popular movements to pressure governments to stop the war and end the Israeli occupation.

He stressed that the continuation of demonstrations and solidarity events in British cities and other cities around the world reflects the presence of the Palestinian cause in global public consciousness and confirms that the suffering of Palestinians still receives attention from wide sectors of civil societies, trade unions, parties, and human rights organizations.

These movements reflect the ongoing public pressure on the British government to demand more effective positions and actions to protect Palestinian civilians, stop the war, and ensure respect for international law and the rights of the Palestinian people.
