The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, represented by the Human and Environmental Affairs Sector, in cooperation with the Gulf Statistical Center, discussed the climate statistics project to enhance statistical integration between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in the Omani capital, Muscat.

The workshop reviewed the results of climate analyzes prepared by the project team, reviewed the results of data quality control and homogeneity tests, and analyzed climate variation and trends extracted from monthly data and climate extreme indicators.

The workshop stressed the importance of continuing joint Gulf work to develop climate statistics, and unifying relevant concepts and methodologies, in a way that enhances the exchange of experiences between the GCC countries, and supports the construction of an integrated statistical system capable of providing accurate and reliable data that contributes to understanding climate change and its effects, and supports planning and sustainable development efforts at the Gulf level.
