"Karak attack", "Israeli expansion" and "water security"... the most prominent items in the King of Jordan's "Speech from the Throne"

Jordanian King Abdullah II affirmed that the Jordanian state will not allow those he described as “Kharijite terrorists” to harm Jordan’s security and unity, during his talk about the “Karak attack” in the “Speech from the Throne” that he delivered on Monday. King Abdullah II opened the third regular session of the 20th National Assembly and said in the “Speech from the Throne”: “A few days ago, the treacherous hand of terrorism extended to test the strength of our state and the resolve of our people.”

He added: "But we will be on the lookout for them and will not allow the Kharijite terrorists to harm the security and unity of this nation." The Jordanian king continued, saying about the perpetrators of the attack: “These people are not among us. They have departed from our great Jordanian family and betrayed this family, so there is no place for them among us.” He added: “The blood of the Karak martyrs is a covenant on our necks.”

The Jordanian king said: “We are steadfast in our position and committed to our Arabism and to defending the issues of our nation, as my father was before me and my son will be after me.” He continued: "There is no way to security and stability in our region without fulfilling the right of the Palestinian people to their land."

King Abdullah II added: “Israeli expansionist ambitions remain the greatest threat to the future and hopes of the region.” The Jordanian King stressed that “our water security is a national priority, and we will not allow the thirst of Jordanians to be held hostage to any circumstance, as there is no room for bargaining or appeasement in it.” He continued: “Here I direct the government to continue with water security projects, and to work on developing proactive plans to protect the nation’s resources, in a way that guarantees their sustainability.”
