Madrid - Afaq News - The Spanish Minister of Youth and Childhood, "Sira Rego," called for the establishment of a "free Palestine from the river to the sea," asserting that the Israeli occupation government is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
This came during the minister's participation in an event in the capital Madrid, where she demanded the severing of diplomatic and trade relations with "Israel" and called on the European Union to suspend its partnership agreement with it.
Following her statements, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Spanish Chargé d'Affaires in Tel Aviv on Monday for a formal "rebuke" session, considering the minister's remarks to be "anti-Semitic" and amounting to a denial of "Israel's" right to exist.
The Foreign Ministry claimed that the slogan raised by the minister goes beyond the demand for a Palestinian state, and that such a position from a member of the Spanish government exacerbates the existing tension between Spain and "Israel."
