"It lacks an important clarification".. Hamad bin Jassim comments on the Iranian proposal that Trump rejected

- The former Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim, said on Sunday that Iran's proposal regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz "lacks an important clarification." Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim wrote on his account on the X platform: "Regarding the news circulating about Iran's recent offer, I believe that the offer lacks an important clarification regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

When the strait is opened after seven days, it must be clear and explicit that this is not a temporary opening, but that the strait is now open and navigation returns as it was before without conditions, fees, or control by any party." He added: "I understand Iran's demands regarding its funds, lifting the blockade on it, and returning things to normal.

In my opinion, if there is an agreement, it should include lifting the blockade on Iran, returning Iranian funds, and the gradual lifting of the economic blockade that was imposed on Iran before the outbreak of the war last February, because I have seen and still see that this blockade was unjustified, and in return for all this, the Strait of Hormuz should be opened and return to its previous state." Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim considered that "these points must be clearly established in a final agreement, and not by returning to a memorandum of understanding that originally needed further clarification.

The issue of opening the Strait of Hormuz and the return of free navigation in it is important for us in the region, and at the same time, it is Iran's right to return its life and economic affairs to normal, and for the blockade not to continue in this manner." He emphasized the necessity of "including a clear clause in the agreement regarding the Houthis and Yemen and stopping the escalation there, because this file is directly related to Iran in my opinion.

The agreement should also include a clear clause regarding stopping the escalation in Lebanon and across the borders of Iraq." Earlier on Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump said he expects talks with Iran to continue this week after rejecting Iran's latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said in an interview with Axios: "I expect more talks with Iran (this week). They want to reach an agreement, but it is not the agreement I want.

It is the agreement that we might have agreed to a year ago; they have overestimated their position." Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met last week with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Biegun on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly; a meeting that Trump described on Tuesday as "very good."

Iran said on Sunday that it is waiting for a "final" response to its latest proposals regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, despite U.S. President Donald Trump's public rejection of the proposal. Under the plan, Iran would reopen the vital waterway within a week and resume nuclear talks if the United States agreed to certain conditions, including lifting the maritime blockade and abandoning the oil sanctions.

Araghchi said: "We have seen the initial reaction from the U.S. president, but we have not been informed of anything from the mediators so far."
