Sarajevo - Ofoq News - The Palestinian community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the “Carry for Palestine” initiative, celebrated Palestinian Culture Day, Saturday, October 10, 2026, in the capital, Sarajevo, with the participation of activists, volunteers, and friends of Palestine, along with Bosnian citizens, in an event aimed at introducing the richness of the Palestinian heritage and strengthening the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the Palestinian and Bosnian peoples.
The event was held at the headquarters of the Palestinian community in the heart of Sarajevo, a city known for its cultural diversity and embrace of different civilizations, and witnessed various activities that highlighted the art of traditional Palestinian embroidery, music and Palestinian cuisine, as authentic components of the national identity and Palestinian cultural heritage.
The event provided an opportunity for attendees to learn closely about Palestinian customs and traditions, taste authentic popular dishes, and enjoy music that reflects the richness and diversity of Palestinian culture, in an atmosphere dominated by friendship, human communication and solidarity.
Traditional Palestinian embroidery received special attention, as it is one of the most prominent symbols of Palestinian cultural heritage, as its patterns, colors and decorations carry stories of history, identity and belonging, and embody the connection of the Palestinian people to their land and heritage passed down through generations.
The event emphasized the importance of culture as a bridge of communication between peoples, and a tool for enhancing mutual understanding and consolidating the values of friendship and human rapprochement, as well as its role in preserving national identity and transmitting cultural heritage to future generations.
From the headquarters of the Palestinian community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which embodies communication between two homelands, Bosnia and Herzegovina as the homeland in which the members of the community live, and Palestine as the homeland in which their hearts reside, the importance of continuing cultural cooperation, enhancing diversity and consolidating friendly relations between the two peoples was emphasized.
The Palestinian community in Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed its thanks and appreciation to all activists, volunteers, participants and friends of Palestine, who contributed their efforts and attendance to the success of this cultural event.
In this context, the Palestinian Community Youth Secretary, Muhammad Al-Awad, said that culture is a bridge that connects people, preserves identity, and transmits heritage from generation to generation, stressing that introducing Palestinian culture contributes to bringing Palestinian traditions and heritage closer to Bosnian society, and enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples.
Al-Awad added that Palestine is not just a geographical area, but rather a rich culture, an ancient history, a solid identity, and a people who are proud of their heritage, adhere to it, and preserve it with pride.
The Palestinian community confirmed its continued organization of cultural and social activities that contribute to defining the Palestinian identity, strengthening the bonds of friendship between Palestine and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and consolidating the values of peace, solidarity and mutual respect.
The event concluded with a message affirming the continuation of the Palestinian story, the vitality of its culture, heritage and people, and the growth of relations between the Palestinian and Bosnian peoples on the basis of friendship, brotherhood, solidarity and mutual support.
