20 Israelis Stranded in Northern Ethiopia.. Israel Warns Against Travel to Tigray

Tel Aviv - Afaq News - Hebrew media reported that, amid the ongoing military escalation in northern Ethiopia, about 20 Israelis are still stranded in the area, as clashes renew between Ethiopian government forces and the Tigray People's Liberation Front, with flights suspended at several airports in the region.

The newspaper "Israel Hayom" stated that the Israeli Foreign Ministry issued a travel warning for the Tigray region, urging Israelis present there to avoid unnecessary movement due to the deteriorating security situation.

The newspaper explained that the suspension of flights to the area has left about 20 Israelis there, while 3 Israelis managed to leave the combat zones and spoke about the difficulties they faced during their attempts to exit, including checkpoints and bandits.

For its part, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that it is monitoring the situation of its citizens in areas experiencing security escalations in northern Ethiopia, in coordination with its embassy in Addis Ababa and relevant authorities, to explore ways to evacuate them from the region.

Northern Ethiopia has been witnessing an increasing military escalation for days, with renewed clashes between government forces and the Tigray People's Liberation Front, and the fighting extending to the Amhara and Afar regions.

In the same context, 7 armed groups announced the formation of a new alliance to confront the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, coinciding with the escalation of security tensions in several regions of the country.
