The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced, early Friday morning, that 27 people had been killed as a result of Russian attacks on Ukraine during the past 24 hours. The Ukrainian Air Force stated that, during the night, Russia launched attacks using ballistic missiles, air-to-ground guided missiles, and “Shahed” attack drones, targeting 17 locations across the country.
These night attacks - which were mainly focused on the regions of Kiev, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk - came in the wake of a Russian drone raid that targeted, on Thursday morning, the main train station in the city of Dnipro in central Ukraine, killing 15 people and wounding at least 10 others. Friday's attacks caused emergency power outages in the cities of Dnipro and Kiev.
In Kharkiv Province, the authorities reported that four people - including two children - were killed and at least 26 others were injured as a result of bombing that occurred during the night. On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated, in a post on the Telegram application, that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 1,043 Ukrainian drones during the night.
Video clips and photos - verified by the Ufaq News network from their geographical locations - showed columns of smoke rising from an oil refinery in Novokuibyshevsk, in the Russian Samara region, early on Friday morning. The governor of the Samara region, Vyacheslav Fedorichev, confirmed in a post on Telegram that the region had been attacked, calling on residents to remain in safe places.
