A source told Ufaq News: Qatar is awaiting the response of America and Iran to a new proposal to advance negotiations within two days

The Qatari mediators expect to receive responses from the United States and Iran within two days regarding the latest proposal aimed at moving the negotiations forward, a diplomatic source familiar with the matter told the Ofoq News network on Tuesday. This proposal would pave the way for further talks aimed at reaching an agreement.

For his part, the spokesman for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, said that the Qatari delegation held a lengthy meeting in Tehran to exchange proposals and bring views closer between the two parties, as part of the mediation efforts aimed at reaching an agreement that ends the crisis through a diplomatic solution and avoids the region from further escalation. Al-Ansari added during the weekly media briefing that "any escalation in the region threatens its entire security and adds complications to the negotiations, and we are working to stop it and reach a diplomatic agreement."

He continued, "Freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Arabian Gulf is a non-negotiable issue, and we reject any threat to Qatari or other ships." Earlier, 3 American officials revealed to Ofoq News Network that, on Monday, the US Army carried out limited strikes on the Iranian island of Qeshm, describing the operation as “defensive in nature and aimed at protecting American assets in the region.”

However, this new move, which comes on the eve of the midterm congressional elections, represents a reminder that the situation with Iran remains unresolved, and that the military option is still on the table. The attack comes at a time when US President Trump indicated, on Monday, that the diplomatic track with Tehran is still in place, as he wrote on social media that reaching an agreement is “possible.”
