To follow the Saudi football channel on WhatsApp from Afaq News in Arabic, click here - The Saudi Al-Nassr club shared with its followers on the "X" platform on Monday a video clip of the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo joining its ranks, amid his crisis with his national team and coach Jorge Jesus. The clip showed the 41-year-old wearing a white cotton shirt, a wristwatch, and a ring on his finger.
The "Global" team commented on the clip, saying: "The greatest athlete... in the heart of Najd... in #AlNassr." This appearance of the player with the Saudi club comes after he unexpectedly left the Portugal national team camp without revealing the reasons.
Cristiano Ronaldo missed the last two matches for his national team, specifically against Denmark and Norway. In a press conference, Jorge Jesus, the head coach of the Portugal national team, said about Ronaldo: "If he is playing with his club, he will be eligible for selection if he wants to return to represent the national team."
He continued, speaking about his relationship with Cristiano, whom he coached at Al-Nassr: "In my opinion, you cannot blame someone for a friendship that lasted a whole year because of a situation that is difficult to understand." Jesus continued about the situation that angered the player when he warmed up in the first match against Norway without being given the chance to participate: "Just because it is him, and perhaps that was the right thing to do, given that he is a symbol - all this issue related to warming up or not, and participating in the game or not, was raised."
He added: "How many players warmed up today and did not participate in the match? No, so it stirred all this uproar because (Ronaldo) is a symbol, right?"
The coach denied having apologized to Ronaldo for not including him in the match against Norway, describing the media reports about it as "false," and asked, "What was there to apologize for?".
