Jerusalem - Ofoq News - Al-Quds University has made progress in the QS classification of universities in the Arab region for the year 2027, ranking 45th in the Arab world, first in Palestinians, and 38th in West Asia, achieving an overall score of 55.7 points, ahead of 86% of the universities included in the classification.
The university recorded remarkable progress in the university’s reputation index with employers (Employer Reputation), as it rose from the 50th rank in the Arab world in the 2026 classification to the 22nd rank in the 2027 classification, achieving an advance of 28 ranks within one year, which is the largest improvement recorded by the university among the classification indicators compared to the previous year, which reflects the development of its presence and reputation with employers.
This progress comes within the framework of Al-Quds University’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education, develop its academic programs, and advance its educational and research outcomes, in a way that enhances its academic standing locally and regionally, and confirms its commitment to preparing graduates who possess the knowledge and skills necessary to integrate into the labor market and contribute to community service.
Commenting on this progress, the President of Al-Quds University, Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek said that the university’s maintenance of its Palestinian leadership and its progress in the Arab classification reflect the continuous efforts made by the university to develop its academic and research system, enhance the quality of its outputs and align them with the requirements of the labor market. He pointed out that this progress constitutes an incentive to continue investing in scientific research and innovation, and expanding academic partnerships, in a way that enhances the university’s presence and standing at the regional and international levels.
The QS classification of universities in the Arab region is based on ten main indicators that measure multiple aspects of the academic, research and institutional performance of universities, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, international research network, scientific citations, research per faculty member, percentage of faculty members holding doctorates, influence on the Internet, and ratios of international faculty members and students.
Academic reputation tops the indicator weights at 30%, followed by employer reputation at 20%, then the faculty-to-student ratio at 15%, and the international research network at 10%, in addition to the rest of the indicators that collectively contribute to determining the final results of universities.
The overall score is calculated according to a standard scale in which the score of the highest performing institution reaches 100 points, while the results of other universities are determined according to their performance and relative position within the classification.
The continuation of Al-Quds University at the forefront of Palestinian universities, in addition to its progress in a number of key indicators, reflects its path towards enhancing its academic competitiveness and expanding its regional and international presence, based on developing its educational and research system and strengthening the connection of its outputs with the needs of society and the labor market.
