The United States has warned of retaliatory measures that could harm European companies if the European Union proceeds with its plans to restrict the access of American companies, including SpaceX, which operates the Starlink network, to parts of the European market.
The American ambassador to the European Union said, in statements to the Financial Times, that European companies may face harsh repercussions, after the European Commission proposed allocating part of the direct communications frequencies between phones and satellites to European companies, which may limit the opportunities of American competitors.
This step comes within the framework of Brussels' efforts to strengthen its technological sovereignty and reduce its dependence on American companies, while Washington warned that regulatory restrictions and fines imposed on technology companies may negatively affect American investments in Europe.
